“Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don’t”
Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m Mirella and this blog is the result of at least two years of indecision about whether or not I should start one… Now, at 40, I’ve come to the realisation that I’m too old to not be doing what I like in life.
Which is what exactly?
Well, I’m an historian (and an incurable history nerd at that) and I specialise in the history of 17th century noble women in the Low Countries. I’m most happy when I can write and talk about family intrigues, court gossip or female power strategies. All that juiciness should at some point result in a PhD. Of which you will probably read from time to time on this blog.
I also love to travel with my husband and daughter, who took her first flight with us when she was just 7 weeks old. Since then, we haven’t stopped dragging her around the world with us. Expect to read about our experiences!
From time to time you can even find me experimenting in the kitchen. I’m mildly obsessed with food and I especially enjoy cooking traditional dishes from all around the world. Somehow I think this all ties in with my historical obsessions.
